Deliverability has long been part of the email marketer’s vocabulary. But now, it has the ultimate partner: Sendability.

It’s a term that’s got us so excited that we’re trademarking it. So what exactly is sendability? And why do we think it’s the biggest thing in the email industry since abandoned cart messages became a thing?

Pull up a chair because in this blog series, Monstie is explaining why we’re adding sendability to the email lexicon.

What Is Sendability?

SendabilityTM, as we define it at Inbox Monster, is a measure of an email’s readiness. We are dedicated to our mission to streamline the pre- and post-send workflows, and sendability is a crucial component in determining whether a message is worth sending.

Deliverability tracks where your email landed, whether in the inbox or spam folder.

Sendability, on the other hand, calculates whether your email should be sent in the first place.

We consider deliverability and sendability to be two sides of the same coin. They’re equally critical in an email marketer’s workflow—to the extent that we don’t recommend hitting “send” until both are optimized.

While they’re both quantitative in nature, for most email teams, sendability isn’t tracked. Deciding whether to deploy a message is typically a gut feeling, cobbled together with thoughts and prayers.

But it doesn’t have to be this way.

Why Sendability Matters in Email QA

Traditional email QA is notorious for being—to put it delicately—a gigantic hassle. On large, enterprise teams, it can involve a fleet of stakeholders, from marketing and creative to legal and compliance.

Teams may try to stay organized with spreadsheets or project management systems, but these can quickly become outdated. Other rendering tools can preview emails and test their links and images, but getting that final stamp of approval is still a manual process.

Additionally, brand standards, regulations and industry best practices are always in flux, so keeping up with them can be painful and time-consuming. Sendability is the solution to removing the friction from email QA.

In our quest to bring sendability to email marketers everywhere, we recently announced our launch of Custom QA as part of Inbox Monster’s Creative Suite. Custom QA was built to automate all the mundane tasks and monotonous checks, making that Excel sheet look ancient.

Sendability takes the guesswork out of the QA process, so you don’t think your email is good to go. You know.

What Sendability Unlocks for Email Teams

There are many reasons why email QA feels caught in the last century. It can be difficult to align all the various stakeholders of an email campaign, especially when every brand has specific guidelines and each department has certain rules it has to uphold.

For large senders, teams are often under immense pressure to mail at high volumes. Ask an email marketer about their day, and their answer is likely to be: too much work, never enough time.

But imagine if you had a score that could calculate when all those QA rules had been met and could tell you precisely when to push the send button.

That’s what sendability makes happen.

The Future of Email QA: Get Your SendabilityTM Score

If you’re excited by the concept of sendability and looking to modernize your QA workflow, Inbox Monster is here to help.

Instead of wasting valuable time on manual and inefficient review processes, Inbox Monster’s Custom QA empowers teams to tailor their email testing to their brand’s unique needs.

Custom QA lets you create specialized rule catalogs for brand standards, design requirements, legal disclaimers, compliance checks and more—all within a single workflow.

Where sendability comes in is with our proprietary SendabilityTM Score, which helps teams quickly understand whether an email is ready for deployment. After an email is analyzed against an organization’s custom ruleset, Inbox Monster generates the Sendability Score based on how well that message meets those standards.

FAQs About Sendability

What is sendability?

SendabilityTM, a term coined by Inbox Monster, is a quantitative measure that proves an email is ready for deployment. As a percentage-based figure, from 0% to 100%, sendability is like your email’s final exam that it’s good to go, based on the specific brand rules that you create within Custom QA.

How does sendability differ from deliverability?

Deliverability measures whether an email made it to the inbox, landed in the spam folder or went missing. A deliverability platform monitors inbox placement and sends real-time alerts in case of issues, such as spamtrap hits or blocklistings.

While deliverability determines where an email is delivered after it is sent, sendability determines whether an email should be sent in the first place. By calculating an email’s readiness for deployment, sendability allows team to send faster without sacrificing quality.

What is the Sendability Score?

The Inbox Monster SendabilityTM Score is a proprietary score within Custom QA that helps teams quickly understand whether an email is ready for deployment. After an email is analyzed against an organization’s custom ruleset, Inbox Monster generates the Sendability Score based on how well that message meets those standards. Failed rules are clearly identified for remediation, so teams can quickly fix issues, improve overall accuracy and send with confidence.
